Acupuncture

Acupuncture originated in China as a way to balance the flow of energy within the body. Now we want to give you a more balanced variety of options in your health plan with acupuncture benefits.

Harvard Pilgrim is committed to giving you access to a wide variety of health services – including up to 20 acupuncture visits a year. (Your regular copayments, deductibles, or coinsurance may also apply.)

To make staying healthy a more seamless experience, acupuncture benefits are covered by many of our fully insured plans, without a referral. Covered HMO members must receive services from participating providers, and POS and PPO members can see participating providers for in-network coverage or other providers for out-of-network coverage.

Our acupuncture benefits are just one of the ways we bring more to your health plan, because sometimes alternative medicine can be a smart alternative. However you choose to stay healthy, you can always count us in.

Not available with Harvard Pilgrim’s Access America plans, grandfathered benefit plans, small group transition plans in Maine and New Hampshire, and Medicare Supplement and Medicare Enhance plans. Self-insured employers can purchase the acupuncture benefit as part of their renewal. The network for the acupuncture benefit is different than the discount acupuncture network in Your Member Savings program.
