We are also among the nation’s highest-rated health plans, and a big part of that is our commitment to delivering great customer service and high-quality health care, day after day. Count us in to be there for you – wherever, whenever you need a partner.
Harvard Pilgrim Employees in the Community
We’re proud to say that giving back to the community is a huge part of our employee culture.
For more than 30 years, the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation has provided the tools, training, volunteers, and leadership to help build healthy communities. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $133 million to support nonprofit organizations, enhance children’s well-being and make health care more equitable. In 2014, through its Mini-Grant program, the Foundation distributed nearly $556,000 in employee-directed mini-grants to more than 650 nonprofit organizations throughout the region.
The Foundation also launched the Harvard Pilgrim Healthy Food Fund to support nonprofit organizations across the region that make fresh – and often local – food easier to find and buy. From farmer’s markets and food pantries to community gardens, food forests, and cooking classes, there are a growing number of ways to help low- and middle-income families eat better.
In total, our employees volunteered 3,200 service hours in 2014. That’s serious teamwork. The kind that makes us extra proud, and the kind you can expect from us every single day.
Why Inclusion Matters
Harvard Pilgrim values the differences of our employees, members and communities, and we’re working every day to create value through these differences.
Our president and CEO, Eric Schultz, wrote in the Boston Business Journal: “It is so important to recognize that health care is not one-size-fits-all. In health care, it is important that we not assume we understand the needs of our members. We serve diverse populations with unique values, languages, and cultures.”
At Harvard Pilgrim, inclusion informs everything from how we serve our members, to how we support our employees. Read more about our commitment to inclusion below:
